Furqat Siddiqov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Canada (with headquarters in Washington), presented his credentials to Canadian Governor General Mary Simon, as reported by "Dunyo."

During the meeting following the formal ceremony, Governor General Mary Simon acknowledged her awareness of the ongoing socio-economic and democratic reforms in Uzbekistan, as well as the progress in fostering good neighborliness, inter-ethnic harmony, and tolerance in Central Asia. She stated that the Canadian government fully supports these efforts, which will pave the way for expanding bilateral relations.

The potential for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the economies of Uzbekistan and Canada was highlighted. It was suggested to establish a regular exchange of economic visits and trade missions to foster this cooperation.

In May 2023, Furqat Siddiqov presented his credentials to President Joe Biden as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States. In October, he also submitted a copy of his credentials for his appointment as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Brazil (also based in Washington).
