Uzbekistan establishes diplomatic relations with Côte d'Ivoire

13162On April 29, a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire was signed in New York, USA. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.
The document was signed on behalf of the governments of both countries by the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and the Permanent Representative of Côte d'Ivoire to the UN, Tiemoko Moriko.
The parties expressed their readiness to strengthen cooperation within international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies.
“An agreement was reached to intensify bilateral relations in order to find mutually beneficial areas of cooperation in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres,” the report states.
Thus, Côte d'Ivoire, located in West Africa, became the 160th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan.
“The signing of this document marks an important step in intensifying Uzbekistan’s cooperation with countries on the African continent,” the report adds.
It should be recalled that the 159th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan was Nauru, an island country in the Pacific Ocean, the smallest independent republic in the world.
