Uzbekistan’s population increases

As of January 1, 2026, Uzbekistan’s permanent population stood at 38,236,704 people, according to the National Statistics Committee.

This figure represents an increase of 693,500 people, or 1.8 percent, compared to the same period last year.

By region, the permanent population figures are as follows:

  • Samarkand Region – 4,379,800 people;
  • Fergana Region – 4,223,000 people;
  • Kashkadarya Region – 3,717,000 people;
  • Andijan Region – 3,521,800 people;
  • Namangan Region – 3,190,800 people;
  • Tashkent City – 3,178,100 people;
  • Tashkent Region – 3,160,700 people;
  • Surkhandarya Region – 3,011,000 people;
  • Bukhara Region – 2,107,000 people;
  • Khorezm Region – 2,069,200 people;
  • Republic of Karakalpakstan – 2,053,200 people;
  • Jizzakh Region – 1,566,900 people;
  • Navoi Region – 1,111,900 people;
  • Syrdarya Region – 946,300 people.

For reference, as of October 1, 2025, Uzbekistan’s permanent population was recorded at 38,069,116.
