Uzbek scientist was awarded the prize in the name of Chingiz Aitmatov

Rector of Alisher Navoi Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature and doctor of philology, Professor Shuhrat Sirojiddinov, was awarded the Chingiz Aytmatov award.  This decision was made at a session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS held in Samarkand.

Nurlanbek Shakiyev, head of the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, presented the award to the scientist at the plenary meeting.

Shuhrat Sirojiddinov is known as a great scientist in the field of textual studies and literary studies, he is the author of several scientific works on Uzbek classical literature, religious studies, and translation theory.  The scientist has written more than 140 scientific articles, 16 monographs, and educational manuals.

"It is a great honor to receive the award associated with the name of such a great writer as Chingiz Aitmatov.  I am very pleased that my humble services have been considered worthy of such an award.  By promoting the rich culture of our people, we will further develop our activities that contribute to friendship and peace," -  says Shuhrat Sirojiddinov.

The Chingiz Aytmatov award was established in November 2012 at the proposal of the Jogorku Council of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The award is given annually for services in the field of culture, enlightenment, development of humanities, literature, and art, study, and preservation of cultural heritage, bringing cultures, nations, and people closer together, mutual enrichment, peace, and friendship.  It is also awarded for contributions to the development of spiritual relations between the countries.
