Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan border demarcation law set for ratification

During the Senate's forty plenary session of the Oliy Majlis, the law "On Ratification of the Agreement on the Demarcation of the State Border of Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan" received approval from senators. The ratification of this law, which is expected to take place today, June 23, marks a significant step in finalizing the border demarcation between the two countries.

During the discussion, senators emphasized the long-standing strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, highlighting the close ties and shared interests that exist between the neighboring nations.

The agreement, signed on December 21, 2022, during a state visit to Uzbekistan by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, outlines the demarcation of the state border, spanning over 2356 kilometers.

Ensuring the integrity of the border, the agreement on the affairs of the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan state border holds paramount importance in maintaining strong bilateral relations between the two countries.

On March 28, President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan ratified the direct regulation of the demarcation of the state border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, underscoring the commitment of both nations to solidifying their shared border through legal frameworks.
