17-year-old Uzbek boy dies in road accident in Turkey

Reports have circulated on social media that a 17-year-old Uzbek citizen, S.S., died in a road traffic accident in Istanbul, Turkey. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has issued a statement regarding the incident.

According to the consulate, S.S. sustained severe injuries in a traffic accident in Istanbul on April 5 this year and was hospitalized. Despite receiving medical treatment, he passed away on April 15. The deceased was buried on April 17 in the Samarkand region.

The Turkish citizen who caused the accident fled the scene but surrendered to the police the following day, expressing remorse. During the investigation, narcotics were found in his blood. At present, he has not been taken into custody. The court hearing is scheduled for October 2 this year.

It was reported that the family members of the deceased did not contact the Consulate General immediately after the incident. At present, the Consulate General is providing the victim’s family with the necessary consular and legal assistance.

According to reports circulated on social media, S.S. was struck by a car on his birthday while returning home after buying flowers for his mother.

It is worth noting that earlier, reports emerged of the killing of 36-year-old Uzbek citizen Zulaykho E. in Istanbul’s Fatih district, one of the Turkish metropolis’ areas with the largest Uzbek community. She was fatally stabbed in the throat.
