Reports have emerged that Mubashir Ahmed (real name Alisher Tursunov), a religious scholar and blogger who founded the information and analytical platform “Azon Global,” was allegedly extradited from Turkey to Uzbekistan. The claims were made by “Azon Global,” which reported that Tursunov was detained at his residence in the Başakşehir district of Istanbul as a suspect.

According to the statement, Turkish authorities initially planned to deport him on May 9, but the process was delayed following public outcry. He was subsequently transferred to Edirne, where he was reportedly kept under surveillance by Turkish intelligence at a local migration center. He was later returned to Istanbul.

"He was handed over, bypassing the legal system. This was an illegal extradition. In the meantime, he was bypassed by the legal system and illegally extradited to Uzbekistan,"  Turkish lawyer Ibrahim Ergin stated.

In an effort to verify the situation, QALAMPIR.UZ reached out to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office. However, both agencies stated they had no information regarding the alleged extradition of Mubashir Ahmed.

It is worth noting that a criminal case had previously been initiated against Alisher Tursunov. Although he was initially listed as wanted under Part 1 of Article 244² of the Criminal Code (creation or participation in religious extremist or other prohibited organizations), this was later identified as a technical error. The correct charge, according to the authorities, is under Article 244³ — illegal preparation, storage, import, or distribution of materials of a religious nature.
