Tourism companies granted customs duty exemptions under Presidential decree

Uzbekistan will provide a range of customs duty exemptions for tourism companies until January 1, 2027. This is stipulated in the decree signed today, November 20, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the organization of the Tourism Committee’s activities and measures to rapidly develop the tourism sector.
According to the decree, until January 1, 2027:
- Buses, electric buses, and minibuses imported by tourism sector entities will be exempt from customs duties;
- Tour operators registered and licensed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan may, as an exception, import vehicles with engine capacities of at least 2.4 liters and high-passenger capacity for organizing extreme tours, paying only 25 percent of the applicable customs duty and utilization fee in installments over three years;
- Regardless of the number of imported buses, electric buses, or minibuses, tourism entities will be allowed to receive a single certificate covering all such vehicles;
- Entrepreneurship entities that start constructing hotels under initial agreements with brands ranked in the top 50 by Brand Finance by January 1, 2030, will be exempt from customs duties on equipment, machinery, vehicles, furniture, and inventory imported for hotel construction and furnishing in accordance with the brand’s requirements.
