Tokayev said that he is interested in strengthening relations with Mirziyoyev

Kazakhstan is interested in further strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan.  The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan spoke about this today 22 December, at a meeting with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent.

Kasim-Jomart Tokayev thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his hospitality and emphasized the importance of today’s state visit to Uzbekistan.

“We are interested in further strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan.  From time immemorial, Kazakhs and Uzbeks have been brotherly nations united by unbreakable friendship and mutual respect.  We are connected by common cultures, traditions, languages and religions.  Our countries with a common history and destiny have common goals and development prospects.  Therefore, I attach special importance to today’s visit.  I am sure that we will take our relations to a new level in terms of quality.  The stronger and more successful the cooperation between our countries is, the more stable the situation in Central Asia will be,” Tokayev said.

The head of state said that he becamec acquainted with the recently accepted Address of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.  In his opinion, this basic document opens up new perspectives for the development of Uzbekistan.

In turn, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the leader of Kazakhstan on his victory in the presidential election.

During the conversation, the heads of state discussed the main issues of Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan strategic partnership.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are the largest trading partners in Central Asia.  By the end of this year, the volume of mutual trade has increased by 35% and reached 5 billion dollars, which is due to the implementation of a number of joint projects in the fields of industry, engineering, logistics, transport, and energy.
