A new railway station will be built in the Gurlan district in 2025. This was announced on May 2 at a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the priority tasks of socio-economic development in the Khorezm region.

It was also revealed that the railway station in Hazorasp will be reconstructed. In cooperation with local entrepreneurs, 80 modern buses and 50 minibuses will be delivered to Khorezm this year, with another 20 to be added in 2026. Additionally, four new bus terminals will be constructed in Kushkupir, Khanka, Yangibazar, and Khiva, while 10 new modern trolleybuses will be introduced by the end of the year.

Furthermore, six high-speed electric trains will be brought in 2026. As a result, the travel time from Tashkent to Urgench will be reduced from 14 hours to just 7 hours, and from Bukhara to Khiva from 6 hours to 3 hours.

At the meeting, it was also reported that the electrification of the Bukhara-Khiva railway line has been completed. This upgrade is expected to increase annual passenger capacity from 500,000 to 3.3 million people and boost freight volume from 1.1 million tons to 5.8 million tons.

It is worth recalling that earlier during the same meeting, it was announced that all state institutions in Khiva will be relocated to newly built administrative facilities, as part of a broader initiative to free up central areas of the city for tourism-focused development.
