Synthetic drugs worth 1 billion 506 million soums were discovered in the apartment of a citizen residing in the Chilonzor district of Tashkent. This was reported by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital.
According to the report, a man identified as S. was detained in one of the areas within the district. During a body search conducted in the presence of witnesses, 5 grams of narcotics were found on him. Following this, an urgent search was carried out at his residence, also in the presence of witnesses. It was there that the drugs were being stored.
During the search, authorities found three black bags containing a white powdery substance, additional powder wrapped in blue insulating tape, electronic scales, and zip-lock packets hidden under the furniture.
As a result of the swift operation, the distribution of 1 kilogram and 805 grams of synthetic narcotic drugs—valued at 1 billion 506 million soums—was prevented. According to officials, this amount could have poisoned up to 6,000 people.
A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under Part 5 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code (illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, or other actions intended for the distribution of narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances, as well as their illegal trafficking). A preventive measure in the form of arrest has been applied.
It is worth noting that earlier, 8.2 kilograms of narcotic drugs smuggled into Uzbekistan from neighboring countries were intercepted.
