A taxi driver who molested a young girl was arrested in Tashkent

A taxi driver in Tashkent was apprehended for molesting a young girl. The Tashkent City Courts' press office informed QALAMPIR.UZ about the driver's arrest and subsequent imprisonment for five days.

On February 10, a girl born in 2004 ordered a taxi in Tashkent at 19:30 to attend an event celebrating her father's birthday.

During the ride, the taxi driver made inappropriate remarks about the girl's age and attire, engaging in sexualized language.

During the court proceedings, the perpetrator confessed to his actions, offered an apology to the victim, and pleaded for a lenient sentence.

The court found the taxi driver guilty under Article 41-1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, Section 1, for committing sexual harassment and sentenced him to five days of administrative detention.

The sentence began on February 14, 2024. Additionally, the defendant is fined 255,000 soums to cover expenses related to his detention in a special prison, which amounts to 15% of the base calculation for each day of administrative detention.

Earlier, the deputy editor-in-chief of the "Nurafshon" TV channel in the Tashkent region was imprisoned for three days for slandering an employee.
