Person promising university admission in Tashkent is detained

A person in Tashkent city was detained for promising to secure university admission for $6,000. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office.

According to the report, during a swift operation conducted by the department’s Shaykhontohur district branch in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, citizen Sh.S. (previously convicted of fraud) was caught red-handed with material evidence while fraudulently taking $6,000 from citizen D.A. and two of their acquaintances. Sh.S. had promised to use connections to admit them to the third year of the University of Information Technology and Management in the Kashkadarya region.

It was noted that a criminal case was initiated under Articles 168 (fraud) and 28, 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are underway.

Earlier, it was reported that in the Khorezm region, an individual was detained for providing a fake diploma from Urgench State University to a citizen. Moreover, they were found guilty of defrauding two people by transferring their studies from a university in Kazakhstan to an international university in Kyrgyzstan and preparing fake diplomas, earning a total of $4,800.
