5351Authorities in Tashkent have taken legal action against individuals engaging in begging in the Yunusabad and Yangihayot districts, as reported by the city's General Department of Internal Affairs.
The crackdown follows a viral video showing a disabled man begging on the streets of Yunusabad. Internal affairs officers conducted a preventive interview with him.
“When I was begging, the internal affairs officers saw and brought me. I sewed old things and shoes. I will return to my work. State employees explained that it is against the law,” he says.
During these preventive measures, it was noted that some women were endangering their children by using them as a source of income. Many of these women were under 40 years old.
"Authorities identified two women begging in an underpass, prepared preliminary documents, and sent the case to court, resulting in administrative penalties for the offenders," the report states.
Additionally, two minor girls, originally from the Samarkand region, were found begging in Yangihayot district. They have since been sent to a juvenile welfare center for care and support.
According to Article 188-3 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, penalties were imposed on those engaged in begging.
This follows a previous case in Fergana City, where young men were caught and punished for fraudulent begging activities.
