In Tashkent, three men attempted to rob a courier who was delivering money to the relatives of migrants and tried to steal $180,000 from him. This was reported by the press service of the Tashkent city Internal Affairs Directorate.

According to the report, the incident occurred in early February in the Shaykhantohur district. Three citizens from Fergana were suspected of committing the crime and were subsequently detained. They targeted a man responsible for delivering remittances from Uzbek migrants in Russia to their families in Uzbekistan.

The suspects were acquainted with the courier beforehand and planned the attack. They lured him under the pretense of sending money to relatives in Tashkent and arranged a meeting.

When the courier arrived at the agreed location, two of the suspects entered his Captiva vehicle. One of them struck the driver on the head, while the other grabbed a package containing $180,000. However, due to the courier’s resistance, the assailants managed to seize only $20,000 before fleeing the scene in a Nexia-3.

The suspects have been detained, and an investigation is ongoing.

We recall that earlier in Tashkent, a 35-year-old man was detained on suspicion of stealing shoes worth 55 million soums. A criminal case was initiated under Article 169 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (Theft).
