On June 26, news spread across social networks that a three-year-old boy was listed for sale on the OLX online trading platform. The Children's Ombudsman has issued an official statement regarding the incident.

According to the statement, following swift investigative measures by law enforcement, authorities quickly identified the address and account from which the advertisement had been posted.

It was revealed that a minor, I.A. (a boy born in 2012), living with his parents in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent, had posted the ad as a childish prank. Reportedly, in an attempt to “punish” his younger brother, A.M. (born in 2022), for misbehavior, the boy created an account and listed him for sale, setting the price at 150,000 soums.

The Uchtepa District Department of Internal Affairs has launched a preliminary investigation into the incident.

“The Children’s Ombudsman is continuing to monitor the situation to ensure that the rights and interests of the children involved are protected,” the statement said.
