Individuals demanding $900,000 bribe detained in Tashkent

In Tashkent, two individuals who demanded $900,000 in exchange for changing the category of a land plot through acquaintances in high-ranking positions have been detained, the State Security Service reported.

According to the investigation, a citizen contacted the State Security Service’s Call Center and reported that the individuals sought the bribe in return for reclassifying one hectare of land belonging to an LLC in the Sergeli district and securing permission to construct a multi-storey building on the site.

During an urgent operation in the Mirabad district, the suspects were detained with material evidence while receiving an advance payment of $220,000.

A criminal case has been opened against them under Article 168 (fraud), Part 4, Clause “a” and Article 28,211 (bribery), Part 3, Clause “a” of the Criminal Code. They are currently under arrest.

It is worth noting that earlier, several individuals were detained for attempting to sell 22 acres of land in the Furkat district of the Fergana region.
