The “Keep Silence” project on Telegram posted a message that an 18-year-old girl hanged herself in the barn of her yard in Angren, Tashkent region.

According to the report, the incident took place on 28 January.  Reportedly, the girl was being blackmailed by a man serving in the National Guard of Angren, who was threatening to distribute photographs of the girl, if she did not come to meet him.

“Why shouldn't action be taken against this young man?  How many more girls will die?  I want the actions of such people (if they deserve to be called human) to be seen in an open court, and for everyone to see what kind of person their parents' raised!

The poor girl was very reserved and scared and chose death as her last resort.  "If we take into account the man's involvement, then he is much older than the girl.

She was afraid of what people would say about the photographs and consequently, one family has lost their beloved daughter who will blossom no longer,"  said the message.

Hayat Shamsutdinov, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, responded to this situation, saying that on 28 January 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the girl, R.N., born in 2004, who lived at Beruniy street, 58, “Beruniy” neighborhood, Angren city, died.  It was reported that she committed suicide by hanging herself on a barn beam in her house.

“Regarding this situation, explanatory letters were received from the relatives of the deceased and other relevant persons, and a court medical examination was appointed.

Currently, the Angren city prosecutor’s office is conducting an investigation into this situation,” the General Prosecutor’s Office said.
