Assistant mayors in Tashkent and Jizzakh were caught with bribes

7752Assistant mayors in the Tashkent and Jizzakh regions have been caught accepting bribes, according to a report from the State Security Service.
In Tashkent, K.M., an assistant mayor in one of the neighborhoods of Orta Chirchik district, was arrested during a quick operation conducted by the State Security Service in collaboration with the Department of the Prosecutor General's Office. K.M. was apprehended while demanding $15,000 for the lease of 1.8 hectares of land for 10 years as part of a national green space project. He had already received $13,000 in advance.
In a separate case in Jizzakh, I.K., an assistant mayor in a neighborhood of Gallaorol district, was caught red-handed by State Security Service and Department of Corruption and Economic Crime Enforcement (DCED) officials. I.K. was found with $1,200 in exchange for securing employment for a citizen in the district medical association through his connections.
Criminal cases have been initiated against both assistant governors.
Earlier, it was reported that in the Jizzakh region, 55 assistant governors were penalized for failing to address businessmen's appeals promptly.
