Construction begins on a high-speed railway between Tashkent and Samarkand

4704On December 24, Uzbekistan Railways JSC held negotiations with the leadership of SAMAN Corporation Jin Kang regarding the construction of a high-speed passenger railway connecting Tashkent and Samarkand. This was reported by the press service of Uzbekistan Railways.
The primary focus of the negotiations was the development of the new railway project, initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at modernizing Uzbekistan’s transport infrastructure.
"The new railway line will drastically reduce travel time between the two major cities, enhance passenger comfort, and improve the quality of transport services," the report states.
Both parties emphasized the significance of strengthening cooperation with manufacturing enterprises, boosting passenger traffic, and expanding the number of high-speed trains in operation.
"The project is expected to play a pivotal role in Uzbekistan’s economic growth and elevate the country’s transport sector to new heights," officials noted.
As part of the negotiations, the two sides agreed to form a working group tasked with expediting the feasibility study and advancing project preparation.
