Tashkent caught in a strong dust storm

Today, May 17, a strong dust storm has been affecting Tashkent since 18:00.
According to Uzhydromet, the concentration of PM 2.5 fine particles in the capital's air has reached 44.95 μg/m³, which is 1.28 times higher than the permissible limit.
Meanwhile, the Tashkent City Emergency Situations Department has issued a warning to residents due to strong winds.
The department has urged residents to take the following precautions during the storm:
- Securely close doors, windows, attics, and ventilation systems in residential buildings;
- Avoid standing under trees or power lines;
- Remove items from balconies, window sills, and other exposed areas, or ensure they are firmly secured;
- Seek shelter in sturdy buildings, underpasses, or other safe areas during strong gusts;
- Refrain from entering damaged buildings or hiding near dangerous structures such as poles, billboards, or trees.
In addition, the department advised residents not to park vehicles under trees or lightweight structures.
