This year’s harsh winter highlighted the problems in some systems. It is unclear to us how many more shortcomings will be revealed by the expected anomalous cold next week. As it gets colder, people are more worried about slipping on icy roads while walking or driving, and more about gas and electricity outages in their homes, rather than the freezing weather outside. How prepared is the capital for the expected anomalous cold? This question was answered by Rustam Yusupov, the deputy head of the main Department of Improvement of the city of Tashkent.
“A total of 183 machines were prepared by the enterprises of the management system before the snowfall. 53 of them are sand sprinklers, more than 50 snow plows and dump trucks,” says Yusupov.
It is noted that, first of all, sand mixtures will be sprinkled on overpasses and bridges, and then on highways. More than 6,000 workers are involved in the snow removal season.
“As for the reserve of sand-free mixture, there are currently 12.5 tons of sand-salt mixture reserve. This is enough for us to pass the winter season,” says Rustam Yusupov.
The head of the department added that serious preparations are being made to avoid inconvenience to the residents and guests of Tashkent.
“When it snows, large trees branches are more likely to break. The board is ready for this as well. The technicians are prepared,” said the official.
It will be clear to what extent the said preparations have been made, and how much power of the equipment is sufficient, only in the period of anomalous cold weather.
