As we reported earlier, representatives of the “Taliban” announced that they are ready to travel to Uzbekistan to discuss the issue of restoring the use of the Hayraton-Mazari Sharif railway.  Today, on 8 February, representatives of the “Taliban” arrived in Uzbekistan for negotiations.  This was reported to QALAMPIR.UZ by Alisher Boltaboyev, an employee of the Press Service of JSC “Uzbekistan Temir Yollari”.

It was reported that the delegation consisting of representatives of the Economic Affairs Commission of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Finance and the Procurement Department was headed by the head of the “Taliban” railway department, Bakht al-Rahman Sharafat.  “Uzbekistan Railways” JSC and representatives of the “Taliban” railway administration plan to sign a memorandum of understanding on the Hayraton-Mazari Sharif railway.

It should be recalled that since 1 February this year, the Hayraton-Mazari Sharif railway will be closed due to the failure of the Afghan Railways to implement the measures agreed between them.  Reports stated that the use of it was temporarily suspended.  Following this, the officials of the Afghan Railway Administration accused Uzbekistan Railways of violating the new agreement on the technical issues of the railway connection between Hayraton-Mazari Sharif.
