Uzbekistan is going to introduce liability for interference in the activities of medical personnel. Related to this, a draft law «On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan» has been developed.

According to the project, the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan is supplemented with a new article that implies liability for unlawful interference in the activities of a medical worker, that is, obstruction of a medical worker's medical care or medical services, as well as for giving them illegal assignments to prevent a medical worker from providing medical care or medical services.

Those found guilty under this article will face a fine of up to  5 and 7 times basic calculation amount, and officials – up to 7 and 10 times basic calculation amount or administrative arrest for up to 15 days.

In addition, the criminal code is also being amended to increase liability for harassment committed against a person or his close relatives in connection with the performance of his official or civil duty, including harassment of medical personnel.

The adoption of the law will enhance the status and prestige of the medical profession and their social and legal protection in particular, by ensuring the protection of medical personnel by the state against various attacks.  It will provide citizens with timely and high-quality medical assistance and prevent interference in the professional activity of medical personnel.
