Yesterday, on 26 December, the “Termiz” international airport, which has recently undergone renovation, received its first flight.  Uzbekistan Airways flight HY-65 on the Tashkent-Termiz route landed at Termiz airport with 146 passengers on board.

The airport reopened after a 55-day break.

As part of the reconstruction, a new 4Ye airfield complex was built, including a new runway 3,000 meters long and 60 meters wide, runways and an hangar for three aircraft parking spaces.  Also, the airfield is equipped with a modern CAT-I ICAO lighting equipment system, meteorological and radio navigation landing systems.  The project of building a new airport complex is estimated at 550 billion soms.  Currently, works worth 377 billion soms have been completed.  The final stage of the project – three aircraft shelters and the second runway – is planned to be completed by April 2023.

It should be recalled that the airport was closed on 1 November and flights were temporarily diverted to other international airports in the republic.
