11812Hereinafter, people who force persons to sell body organs will be sentenced to imprisonment from five to eight years. This is stated in the relevant decision of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to the amendment introduced to the Criminal Code, liability was established for forcing a person to consent to the removal of organs and (or) tissues from him for transplant.
It is noted that this act is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years in aggravating circumstances.
In addition, criminal responsibility has been established for trafficking in human organs and (or) tissues and taking them out of the territory of Uzbekistan.
According to the decision, the sale of human organs and (or) tissues is punishable by imprisonment for a period of 3 to 5 years or the loss of certain rights for a period of 1 to 3 years, and imprisonment for a period of 3 to 5 years.
Investigations related to these crimes are carried out by the internal affairs departments.
For reference, more than 700 kidney transplants, and liver and stem cell operations have been carried out in Uzbekistan. In particular, transplantation operations have been carried out in the Samarkand, Namangan, Khorezm, Surkhandarya, and Andijan regions.
