Students at a specialized boarding school in the Sariosia district of the Surkhandarya region suffered from food poisoning, as reported by the Children's Ombudsman.

It has been revealed that 33 students, displaying symptoms of "acute gastritis," sought assistance from the district medical association due to the consumption of substandard food prepared by a private company providing outsourcing services to the boarding school.

Upon investigating the incident, the investigative team found that certain items from the school kitchen failed to meet sanitary and hygiene standards. Additionally, the proper rules for using kitchen equipment were not followed, resulting in infectious gastrointestinal diseases among the children.

On January 26, the Sariosia District Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal case under Article 186, Part 4, Clause "b" of the Criminal Code. A preliminary investigation is currently underway.
