9537A road traffic accident involving a small Gazelle truck and a train occurred at a railway crossing in the Termiz district of the Surkhandarya region, as reported by the Regional Traffic Safety Department.
The incident took place yesterday, September 28, at 4:40 p.m., when the traffic of motor vehicles was restricted due to the approach of a train at the guarded railway crossing at picket 7 of the 4465-km terminus of the "Termiz-Baktriya" railway station. The driver, born in 1994, violated traffic rules by driving the Gazelle car through the crossing and subsequently overturned after colliding with an iron fence.
As a result of the accident, the "Termiz-Darband" intercity passenger train, pulled by an electric locomotive, was forced to stop. Thanks to the swift response from authorities, the passenger train resumed its movement at 5:25 p.m. on the same day.
According to the provincial emergency department, no injuries were reported in the incident. Officials are currently investigating the situation.
Earlier in the Surkhandarya region, a similar incident occurred when a "Jiguli" car was hit by a train while crossing the railway. During that incident, the intercity passenger train "Termiz-Sariosiyo" No. 6376 collided with the vehicle at an unprotected railway crossing between the "Kumkurgan-Elbayan" stations.
