A bear was fatally shot in Surkhandarya after it ventured into a populated area, sparking a response from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.
According to officials, on May 15th, a bear unexpectedly entered the "Jannatmakon" neighborhood area in the Sariosia district of Surkhandarya region. The bear posed a threat to residents' lives, even injuring one officer during the attempt to subdue it. Consequently, the bear was shot dead to protect the nearby school children from harm.
"Given the suddenness of the situation, the bear's aggressive behavior, and the imminent threat to the lives of the school children, swift action was necessary," the statement explained. The injured officer is currently undergoing a medical examination.
