18-year-old man stabs his brother-in-law to death in Surkhandarya

10609An 18-year-old man was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison for killing his brother-in-law in Surkhandarya region. The incident was confirmed by Aziz Obidov, the press secretary of Uzbekistan's Supreme Court.
According to court documents, the young man lived with his sister, aunt, and brother-in-law. One day, his brother-in-law returned home intoxicated, which allegedly triggered the conflict. The defendant initially strangled her with his hands before stabbing him with a sharp object. The victim died at the scene.
During the court hearing, the man stated that his brother-in-law had regularly harassed him and his family. He partially admitted to his guilt.
The Termez City Criminal Court found him guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 97 (Murder) of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code and sentenced him to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
It is worth recalling a similar case in Tashkent, where a man fatally stabbed his friend while intoxicated. He was found guilty under Part 2, Clause "v" of Article 97 (Murder) of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
