A 24-year-old man who participated in the activities of a terrorist organization in Syria was brought to Uzbekistan.  This was reported by the State Security Service.

It is noted that a citizen living in Namangan went to Istanbul, Turkey for seasonal work and was employed in a sewing shop.  During that time, he regularly listened to the lectures of Abu Salah, the former leader of the "Secretary of Tawhid and Jihad" terrorist organization, through the internet, and he developed extremist views.
Then, he became acquainted with two members of this organization through the internet and was influenced to join the ranks of the "Secretary of Tawhid and Jihad" fighters, and based on their instructions, he traveled from Turkey to Syria in January 2021.

After receiving military training there, he was engaged in guarding the area where the "Tawhid and Jihad Secretariat" terrorist organization is located.

In June 2022, he was brought to Uzbekistan by the State Security Service and a criminal case was initiated against him by the Investigation Department.

Based on the judgment of the Torakurgan district court on criminal cases, this citizen was found guilty under part 1 of article 155-2 and part 1 of article 244-2 of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment.
