Sindorov secures $60,000 at prestigious chess tournament

The “Freestyle Chess Grand Slam” tournament in Weissenhaus, Germany, is nearing its conclusion. Uzbek grandmaster Javokhir Sindorov, who has reached the semifinals, has already secured $60,000 in prize money.
The tournament boasts a total prize fund of $750,000. The champion will receive $200,000, while the runner-up will take home $140,000. The third-place finisher will earn $100,000, and the fourth-place participant is guaranteed $60,000.
Another Uzbek grandmaster, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, who was eliminated in the quarterfinals, will compete for places 5-7, with a chance to win up to $50,000. He is already assured at least $20,000 in prize money.
Today, February 11, the tournament’s semifinals will take place. To secure a spot in the final, Sindorov will face American grandmaster Fabiano Caruana.
