Sindorov draws again with Bluebaum

On April 8, in the ninth round of the Candidates Tournament taking place in Cyprus, Uzbek chess player Javokhir Sindorov faced Germany’s Matthias Bluebaum. Their second encounter also ended in a draw.
In the same round, Sindorov’s closest rivals, Anish Giri and Fabiano Caruana, faced each other. The Indian-born Dutch grandmaster Giri emerged victorious. Following the round, Sindorov remains in the lead with 7 points.
Competing in the Candidates Tournament for the first time, Sindorov continues his campaign undefeated. In previous rounds, he defeated Andrey Esipenko, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, and Wei Yi. His games against Matthias Bluebaum and Anish Giri ended in draws.
For reference, the winner of the tournament, which runs until April 15, will earn the right to challenge reigning world champion Gukesh Dommaraju for the world title. The tournament has a prize fund of $500,000, and the second half began on April 7.
