In a remarkable surge of international travel, a staggering 195,000 Uzbeks embarked on vacations abroad during the first five months of this year, according to the Press Service of the Statistics Agency.

Newly released data reveals that a total of 1.6 million citizens of Uzbekistan ventured abroad for various tourist purposes from January to May 2023. The statistics shed light on the diverse motivations behind these overseas trips:

-    Visiting relatives accounted for a substantial majority, with approximately 1.4 million Uzbeks traveling abroad to reunite with their loved ones.
-    Seeking leisure and recreation abroad drew the attention of 195,000 individuals, who opted to spend their vacation time in foreign lands.
-    Educational pursuits motivated around 17.1 thousand Uzbeks to travel abroad for the purpose of study.
-    Around 10.8 thousand individuals sought medical treatment abroad.
-    An additional 5.5 thousand Uzbeks embarked on overseas journeys for service-related purposes.
Remarkably, the influx of tourists in Uzbekistan was not one-sided. The country played host to 2.6 million foreign visitors who arrived between January and May of this year, demonstrating its growing appeal as a destination for international travelers.
