A 37-year-old coach, Nuri Sahin, has signed a contract with Istanbul’s Basaksehir club, where Uzbekistan national team players Eldor Shomurodov and Abbosbek Fayzullaev play, the club's press service reported.
The signing ceremony took place at the Fatih Terim stadium, attended by club president Goksel Gumusdag and the new head coach. Sahin’s contract with the Istanbul club runs until 2028.
’’Our goal has always been the strong four. Our coach is like our own child, yet an international football expert. Europe has always been our target, and we have never abandoned this goal. Europe is in our DNA. With our coach Nuri Sahin, the entire team and executive committee will unite, and by the end of the season, we aim to achieve our objective,’’ the club president Goksel Gumusdag said.
The 37-year-old Sahin served as head coach of Turkey’s Antalyaspor club from 2021 to 2023. In June 2024, he joined Borussia Dortmund, but in January 2025, he was dismissed following four consecutive defeats.
It is worth noting that earlier, Basaksehir had mutually terminated the contract with head coach Cagdas Atan.
