10518Renowned poet and translator Fakhriyor (Fakhriddin Nizomov) has announced his withdrawal from the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan, citing dissatisfaction with the organization’s conduct. The poet shared his decision on his Facebook page.
“Dear Sirojiddin Sayyid, from today I announce my withdrawal from the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan. I will take my membership card and hand it over – there is no need,” Fakhriyor stated.
The poet revealed that his connection to the union had primarily been through its polyclinic. However, during a recent visit to the hospital for a viral illness, he claimed he was denied treatment and not even prescribed antibiotics.
“I never appreciated the union’s flattery towards the authorities. Now, the situation has worsened – they refuse treatment. Be safe. All your privileges are a gift to yourself and the flatterers around you,” Fakhriyor concluded.
Previously, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded the People’s Poet of Uzbekistan, Sirojiddin Sayyid, the prestigious Order of "Honour" (Hurmat).
