Investment agreements worth $9 billion with Turkey and $1.428 billion with Pakistan have been signed this year, and delays in implementing these projects will not be tolerated. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued the warning on February 13 during a meeting on ensuring high economic growth across sectors and regions.
It was noted that agreements worth $135 billion were reached during foreign visits last year. In addition, this year alone investment deals worth $9 billion with Turkey and $1.428 billion with Pakistan have already been signed.
Ministers, industry leaders, and regional governors were warned that delays in implementing these projects would be unacceptable.
With the growth of investment, construction activity is also expected to increase. Officials were instructed to raise construction volume to 400 trillion soums this year and ensure at least 17 percent growth in the sector.
This year, 40 trillion soums from the state budget have been allocated for social and production infrastructure. This will create a significant market for construction, building materials, metallurgy, and electrotechnical enterprises.
However, engineering companies operating as “Single Customer Service” entities in the regions are struggling to ensure quality and efficiency in construction oversight. Therefore, it was emphasized that the private sector should be involved in customer service functions on a pilot basis in Karakalpakstan, Samarkand, and Fergana.
