Speech of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the ceremony dedicated to International Women's Day
Hello dear mothers!
Dear sisters!
My daughters!
First of all, dears, I would like to congratulate all the women of Uzbekistan on March 8 from my deep heart. I express my highest respect and best wishes to all of you.
We always look forward to this auspicious holiday with great joy and excitement. Because this blessed day marks the beginning of the season of life and renewal in our country - the season of spring. This holiday allows us to once again express our sincere respect and love for you, dear women.
Today, it is natural for each of us to say the most beautiful words in honor of the great miracle of the Creator - our loving mothers, dear sisters, and dear girls.
Above all, we consider you to be the symbol of selflessness. We owe you a lifetime for your heart, intelligence, love, and loyalty.
We rely on you and your great coaching qualities to build a new Uzbekistan and educate the young generation who will be the creators of the Third Renaissance.
Dear sisters!
We highly appreciate that our women, along with our entire nation, make an incomparable contribution to the establishment of a free and prosperous, democratic, open country.
In this regard, please let me quote only some numbers.
Currently, the share of our respectable women working selflessly in our country is 77% in medicine, 74% in education, and 46% in economy and industry.
If in 2017 the share of women in management was 27%, today it has reached 33%, from 40% to 47% in the ranks of political parties, and from 21% to 37% in entrepreneurship.
About 2,000 of our knowledgeable, enterprising, and active women are serving in leadership positions in state and public organizations. In particular, it should be noted that 33% of the MPs of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, (Parliament) and 25% of the members of the Senate and local councils are women.
For their meritorious services to our country and people, 17 of our women were awarded the highest award - the title of "Hero of Uzbekistan". Among our women, there are 5 academicians, more than 700 doctors of science in higher educational institutions, nearly 3 thousand candidates of science, as well as "People's poet of Uzbekistan", "People's artist", "People's teacher" and we have many women who have received other honors.
It would be correct to say that such enthusiastic sisters are the gold fund of New Uzbekistan.
Dear conference participants!
In our country, priority is given to improving the living and working conditions of women and solving social problems related to them.
For this purpose, employment of more than 872 thousand women was provided last year. 4 trillion 700 billion soms of loans were allocated to more than 233 thousand women. More than 252 thousand of our sisters were trained in professions and entrepreneurship that are in high demand in the labor market.
As you know, we are implementing big programs to solve the housing problem that has been bothering our people, especially our sisters for a long time. If in 2017, 191 high-rise buildings with 8,000 apartments were built in our country, then last year - I ask you to pay attention to this - 1,433 houses with 56,000 apartments were built. This year, 90,000 homes will be built.
Last year, the housing conditions of about 14,000 of our sisters improved, and rent payments were reimbursed to about 7,000 needy women.
The most important result for us is how many homes have been filled with joy and happiness, how many people's lives and quality have changed radically, thousands of women's spirits have been lifted, and their faith in the future has been strengthened.
In recent years, large events have been carried out within the framework of "Women's book". The fact that 642,000 of our sisters were given practical help in a short period indicates the scope of our work in this regard.
Last year, 9 million women underwent medical examinations in order to protect women's health, protect motherhood and childhood, and improve the national gene pool. More than 3 million of them were treated on an outpatient basis, and 347,000 were treated in an inpatient setting.
In our country, special attention is paid to quality education and the upbringing of women. In the words of the great thinker Abdurauf Fitrat, "Mothers are educators of all mankind."
In fact, if one girl in the family studies, has a higher education and a modern profession, the atmosphere in the house changes completely. For this purpose, we adopted an important program to support women's education.
I would like to give an example for comparison.
If 6 years ago, 110,000 women studied at universities, now this number has increased almost 5 times and is 500,000. In this regard, the share of our girls has reached 50%, which is an unprecedented result in our history.
According to the new regulation, more than 68 billion soms of education loans were paid by the state for more than 10,000 female students studying for master's degrees. More than 65,000 female students were allocated interest-free educational loans worth about 727 billion soms.
About 2,000 girls living in needy families, as well as more than 500 women with five years of work experience in their specialty, were admitted to universities based on a special quota.
At present, when the world is in a deep economic crisis, no matter how difficult it is, our efforts to find the necessary funds and opportunities will definitely work. I believe that science, politics and public figures, popular culture and art, and sports representatives will grow up among our women studying in universities.
Dear sisters!
In recent years, the voice of the women of Uzbekistan is resounding boldly even from the international podiums, it pleases us all. You know that they actively participate in regional and international structures, prestigious forums, and conferences.
Speaking about this, it should be noted that the dialogue of leading women of Central Asian countries was founded in 2020 on the initiative of our country. Last year, the Women's Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held in Tashkent. All this makes it possible to discuss women's problems at the regional and international levels and to promote new initiatives to solve them.
I would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely congratulate the distinguished ambassadors of foreign countries and representatives of international organizations who are participating in today's ceremony and are supporting our efforts. We all sincerely wish their countries and peoples peace and prosperity.
Dear compatriots!
At this point, I consider it permissible to tell you, dear ones, a noble thought in my heart.
No matter what laws and decisions we adopt in Uzbekistan, no matter what reforms we implement, as the head of the state, the image of our dear mothers, our loving sisters, their pains and concerns are always before my eyes.
I consider it not only my main task, but also an honorable duty to serve you, my dear ones, to live a peaceful, healthy, prosperous, and happy life in the family circle, and to actively participate in the life of society. Because if our mothers and women, who are the backbone of the family and the pillar of society, are satisfied with life, the whole nation will be satisfied with life. If the people are pleased, our Creator will be pleased with us.
As you know, the republican women's organization is currently operating in a new context as the Family and Women's Committee. The scope of authority and activity of the committee has been expanded, and new knowledgeable and highly qualified personnel have been recruited into its composition. In particular, for the first time at the lowest level - in more than 9,400 neighborhoods, the positions of women activists who help solve women's problems were introduced.
All this serves to turn the Family and Women's Committee into a real support and supporter of the women of Uzbekistan.
Dear compatriots!
As it is known, it has become a good tradition to reward our talented girls, who have achieved important results in various fields and are role models for our youth, on the eve of this auspicious holiday with the state award named after Zulfia. Today, we will present these awards to 28 more intelligent and talented girls who were recognized as worthy followers of Zulfiyakhanim.
I sincerely congratulate you, my dear daughters, on the first victory in your life and wish you all-new achievements.
On today's happy day, a large group of our respected women who have achieved exemplary results in their field, actively participated in the life of the state and society, and who have been making a worthy contribution to raising the young generation in the spirit of patriotism, were awarded high orders and medals of our state.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them all.
Dear compatriots!
In today's extremely difficult and complicated times, we are facing huge tasks. It will certainly not be easy to do them. However, as long as we have our brave and noble people, our honorable mothers, and dear sisters, who will give us unlimited strength and support on this honorable path, we will certainly achieve our great goals.
We will build a new Uzbekistan together!
I wish you, the women of our country, good health, family happiness, and blessings for your homes.
Have a blessed holiday!
