Shavkat Mirziyoyev addresses the participants of the conference on Afghanistan in Tashkent

On 26 July, the international conference on Afghanistan discussed the topic "Afghanistan: security and economic development" in the congress hall of the international business center "Tashkent City."  According to "Dunyo" information agency, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov opened the conference with an introductory speech.

Abdulaziz Komilov, the special representative of the president of Uzbekistan on foreign policy issues, read out the address of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the participants of the conference.

In his address, the president noted that the participation by the representative of the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Markus Potsel, in the work of the conference shows the faithfulness of the UN to the goals of strengthening peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The president of Uzbekistan, as well as the participation of special representatives of EU and European countries, China, Russia, the USA, Central and South Asia, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region, noted that the importance of today's meeting had increased even more.  The participants of the forum are directly involved in making decisions on solving the problems of Afghanistan and providing assistance to the Afghan people.

In his address, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his satisfaction with the participation of leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Organization of Economic Cooperation, as well as representatives of international financial institutions and leading think tanks.

In addition, in his address, the president of Uzbekistan welcomed the Afghan delegation led by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaki, on his visit to the country.

For reference, more than 100 participants from more than 20 countries, as well as leading international organizations - the UN, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the European Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Organization of Economic Cooperation are participating in the conference in Tashkent.
