President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent a congratulatory letter to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani presidential press service reported.
The Uzbek leader sincerely congratulated the Azerbaijani president on receiving the Sheikh Zayed International Award for Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi and expressed his best wishes.
“This high and prestigious award is, above all, a clear recognition of the deep respect for your tireless efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, as well as for your far-sighted and wise foreign policy,” the letter said.
The message also emphasized that the joint statement signed in Washington on 8 August 2025 by Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was a historic and significant step toward peace.
It further noted Aliyev’s firm commitment to resolving the long-standing conflict through political and diplomatic means, restoring equal relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, strengthening regional security mechanisms, and developing economic and transport links.
“Dear Ilham Heydar oglu, you have clearly demonstrated to the entire world how to conduct peace-oriented dialogue in the interests of the people and the state, and how even the most complex issues can be effectively resolved through thoughtful and courageous decisions,” President Mirziyoyev said.
It is worth noting that on 4 February this year, the Sheikh Zayed International Award for Human Fraternity ceremony was held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. During the event, President Mirziyoyev delivered a video address to the participants.
