Shavkat Mirziyoyev commemorates the victims of repression

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan took part in a commemoration ceremony for victims of repression on Martyr’s Memorial Alley early this morning 31 August, and laid flowers at the foot of the Monument of Independence in the park “New Uzbekistan”.

In the evening, the Head of State will take part in the event dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the country’s independence and will address the people of Uzbekistan with congratulations.

For reference, 31 August is a day of remembrance for the victims of repression. According to the decree of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 1 May 2001, the day is annually held in the memorial complex “Memory of Martyrs” in the capital of Tashkent.
