Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the commemoration ceremony of Islam Karimov

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the scientific and educational memorial complex named after Islam Karimov and laid a wreath at the base of the statue of the First President today, 30 January.  This was reported by the Press Service of the President of Uzbekistan.

It was noted that the Chambers of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Presidential Administration and the government, representatives of science and culture, and intellectuals also paid respect to the memory of the First President.

"Unforgetting the self-sacrificing people, remembering and appreciating their good deeds is an aspect that shows the nationality of the nation.  This is both an example and a virtue for future generations.  Such respect was shown at the ceremony.  Quranic verses were read and prayers were recited.  "The historical works and noble qualities of the first President for the benefit of our country were remembered," the report said.

The head of state got acquainted with the progress of the construction of the Islam Karimov Museum in the complex.

Flowers were also placed at the base of Islam Karimov's statues in Samarkand and Karshi.
