Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds meeting with Erdoğan

Today, January 29, a closed-door meeting was held at the Presidential Palace in Ankara between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the press service of the Uzbek leader reported.

At the beginning of the conversation, the heads of state sincerely congratulated each other on the upcoming holy month of Ramadan for the entire Muslim ummah.

The sides comprehensively discussed the further expansion of the Uzbekistan–Türkiye comprehensive strategic partnership, particularly in the political, trade and economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

The high pace and active dialogue at all levels were noted with satisfaction. The parties welcomed the effective outcomes of the recent meeting of the Strategic Planning Group held in the “4+4” format.

“Mutual trade turnover, the number of joint ventures, and the number of flights between the two countries are steadily increasing. Joint cultural events are being held on a regular basis,” the statement said.

It was emphasized during the meeting that there is a need to advance projects and programs in industry, agriculture, social protection, and other priority areas.

Special attention was given to strengthening cooperation and coordination in the fields of defense and security, including efforts to combat cybercrime.

The leaders also exchanged views on pressing issues on the international and regional agenda.

Earlier, it was reported that Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Ankara on an official visit together with his spouse and was officially welcomed at the Presidential Complex (Aksaray) in Ankara.
