Shavkat Mirziyoyev attends opening of World Urban Forum

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, held today, May 18, in Baku under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service.
According to the report, President Mirziyoyev was welcomed at the capital’s Congress Center by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme Anacláudia Rossbach.

A joint photo session of the participants was also held.
The theme of this year’s forum is “Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities.” The event is being attended by heads of state and government, international organizations and development institutions.

The forum agenda includes issues related to the sustainable development of cities, providing the population with modern and affordable housing, improving the quality of the urban environment, strengthening climate resilience, developing social and transport infrastructure, and improving housing finance mechanisms.
The President of Uzbekistan is expected to deliver a speech at the Leaders’ Summit held as part of the forum.
