On October 14, 2023, a working group, comprising representatives from the Cultural Heritage Agency, members of the Scientific Expert Council, the State Assets Management Agency, and personnel from "Sharq Publishing House Printing Enterprise" JSC, conducted a historical and cultural examination of these structures.
Following the assessment, the working group determined that the majority of these buildings are in a critical and dilapidated state, necessitating complete reconstruction. Additionally, the examination revealed the presence of structures with historical and cultural significance within the complex.
Simultaneously, it was emphasized that, during the property complex's transfer to the State Asset Management Agency, preserving the historical architectural integrity of the "UzA Building" administrative structure (letter 0002) is crucial. Future construction, repair, and reconstruction efforts must align with the Agency of Cultural Heritage, which has been allocated additional responsibilities.
Furthermore, the Agency for Cultural Heritage has announced its submission of an application for the inclusion of modernist-style elements in Tashkent city, including the UzA building, into the UNESCO World Heritage List.
To provide context, the complex housing the "Sharq" publishing house consists of 14 buildings and structures constructed between 1914 and 1983.
