Flag of the Chess Olympiad was handed over to Uzbekistan

8356At the closing ceremony of the World Chess Olympiad in Hungary, the flag of the competition was officially handed over to Uzbekistan.
Following the traditional awarding ceremony, the tournament flag was presented to the hosts of the upcoming 46th World Chess Olympiad, set to take place in Tashkent in 2026. Alisher Sadullayev, the head of the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan, received the flag from FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich.
In a symbolic gesture, Sadullayev then passed the flag to Nodirbek Abdusattarov, the leader of the Uzbekistan national team.
Uzbekistan previously hosted the World Championship in blitz and rapid chess, held in Samarkand. Now, Tashkent is set to welcome the prestigious team chess tournament.
