Shakarob, a traditional salad popular in Central Asia, particularly Uzbekistan, has been ranked 42nd in the list of the 100 worst dishes in the world. This ranking was published by "TasteAtlas", a platform that compiles and rates dishes from around the globe.

The platform describes Shakarob as a simple salad made from thinly sliced tomatoes and onions, seasoned with salt, ground red and black pepper. It is typically served either as a standalone dish or as a side to meat and rice.

The salad received a rating of 2.6 stars out of 5, placing it among the least-favored dishes worldwide.

The title of the world’s worst dish went to "Blodplättar", a Scandinavian specialty made with animal blood added to pancake batter, popular in Sweden, Finland, and Norway.

Other entries on the list include Thailand's "Khai Mot Daeng", a street snack of fried silkworms seasoned with salt, pepper, and occasionally a vendor's "secret" sauce.

TasteAtlas ratings are determined by audience reviews, with mechanisms in place to filter out biases, bots, and regional favoritism. The system assigns higher value to ratings by verified, knowledgeable users. For example, in a separate ranking of the "100 Most Underrated Foods in the World," the platform analyzed 602,523 ratings, of which 389,802 were considered valid.

Shakarob’s inclusion in this list has sparked discussions about how traditional Central Asian cuisine is perceived on a global stage.
