It is said that Ortiqkhojayev, who was leaving the city, was stopped at the airport

Today, on 16 January, Jahangir Ortiqkhojayev, who has already become a former mayor of Tashkent, was stopped at the international airport “Tashkent” while leaving the country with his family.  This was reported by blogger Nikita Makarenko based on personal sources.

She provided information that when Ortiqkhojayev and his family members tried to leave the city this morning, they were stopped by the State Security Service.

We remind you that today, on 16 January, at the meeting regarding the supply of energy resources held in the presence of the President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that he fired Jahangir Ortiqkhojayev.  He reported that Artiqkhojayev did not adequately prepare for winter despite the warnings.

“I fired him because he didn’t prepare, because he didn’t heed warnings, because he was dishonest and took his eye off the ball,” says the President.

For information, the 48-year-old Jahangir Ortiqkhojayev was appointed to the post of the mayor of Tashkent 5 years ago, in April 2018.  Before that, he did not work in the state business, he was engaged in business.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev introduced him to the people for the first time during the visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Rajab Tayyip Erdoğan, at a business forum held in Tashkent from 30 April – 1 May 2018.  He said that he did not work, that he was a real businessman.

“For the first time in the history of Uzbekistan, I appointed a businessman, a businessman whom I trust, as the mayor of Tashkent city.  This has never happened in history,” said Mirziyoyev.
