Erkin Gadoev, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Budget and Economic Issues of the Oliy Majlis, has blamed residents from the regions for traffic congestion in the capital.

Gadoev’s senatorial inquiry “draws attention to the fact that traffic jams on the roads of the capital seriously affect the daily lives of the population.”

The Senate also noted that with the start of the new school year, traffic in Tashkent has increased sharply. At times, the level of congestion reaches its peak — up to 10 points — leading to significant time losses for thousands of citizens traveling to the capital for work, study, and other purposes.

“Every day, about 1 million people visit the capital, 275,000 of whom come from the Tashkent region. The fact that thousands of cars from neighboring regions enter the city in the morning and return in the evening further exacerbates the traffic jams,” the report stated.

The senator’s inquiry asked the ministry to provide detailed information on the measures being taken to reduce traffic congestion in Tashkent, the current state of the “Intelligent Transport” system, the process of integrating public transport into a single agglomeration network, as well as the implementation status of the tasks set by the President and the reasons behind delays.

For reference, Erkin Gadoev was born in 1959 in the Shafirkan district of the Bukhara region. In 2020, he was elected as a senator representing the Bukhara region.
