Abdulaziz Komilov who has not been seen in public since the March session of the Senate makes an appearance again

On 22 May, the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council for foreign policy and security issues under the president’s administration of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov, had a telephone conversation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah.  This was reported by the “Saudi press agency”.

During the talks, the sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them, as well as recent changes in the regional and international arena, and other issues of mutual interest.

It should be noted that the Saudi news agency named Abdulaziz Kamilov special representative of the president of Uzbekistan.

It has to be recalled that Kamilov has been under treatment abroad for health reasons.  No information has been provided about this so far.  

Abdulaziz Kamilov made his last appearance in the senate on 17 March.  At the session, the Minister stated that Tashkent would not recognize the self-proclaimed Donetsk and the Luhansk People’s Republics and would support the territorial integrity of Ukraine.  After that, he was not seen in the public eye.  By the end of the month, it was reported that Kamilov was being treated abroad.

For reference, in late April, Abdulaziz Kamilov was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Security Council for foreign policy and security issues under the president’s administration of Uzbekistan.
